Wow, what an emotional day! Back in February, right after Brad & I decided to start trying for a baby, I ran across Lindsay's blog - Adventures in Baby Making. She & her husband, Eric, started trying for a baby back in January 2009. They finally got good news back in March of 2010 that they were pregnant. In April she announced that she was having twins and in June they found out they were having twin boys, Lane and Lucas. It has been so much fun reading her blogs, sharing her adventures, and getting to "know" Lindsay. She has shared the good times and the bad, always trying to do what was best for her babies and keeping them safe.
Lindsay hadn't posted in nearly two weeks. I would go on her blog each morning expecting to find that she had been absent because the boys decided to come a little early. Well, this morning there was a post. The boys had come a little early, but definitely not in the way anyone would have wanted. Lindsay was in a terrible car accident, was rushed to the hospital and had to undergo an emergency c-section at a little more than 33 weeks along. She suffered several broken bones. Little Lane is in the NICU and seems to be doing good and progressing. However, little Lucas didn't make it. The impact of the wreck caused him to suffer quite a bit of brain dmamge that put him in a coma that he never came out of.
Lindsay and Eric had him baptized and had to say goodbye a week ago today, October 14th. Lane got to meet his brother before they said goodbye, then he drifted away that afternoon. Lindsay is so strong to be able to share her story, have the will to keep going and get better so she can be there for Baby Lane. No mother should have to go through something like this. My heart aches for their family.
Whereever you are when you read this, please pray for them. Say a prayer for Lindsay and Eric's strength to overcome this, Lindsay and Lane's strength to heal and for little Lane having to grow-up getting to never know his brother, Lucas. God has a special angel now watching over Lane.
